We are living in the age where technology has clearly shown itself to be something much greater than a short-term fad. Staking claim over a portion of our everyday lives, technology has embedded itself not only in our lives, but also in the economy. The internet is the producer of many online millionaires and success stories. Leveraging technology and the internet is now key to helping your business grow. Here are three ways you can leverage these powerful tools to reach the masses.
With sponsored posts, call to action buttons, and algorithms, social media sites are no longer just for recreational and social use. Social platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter are great avenues to promote your business, services, and products. Social media also helps ensure the consumer remembers you. Use these tools regularly to educate your followers on the industries latest news, showcase products (new and current) and sales, and target new customers and clients.
Customer satisfaction and repeat business are targets for any business, large or small. Take advantage of utilizing newsletters to stay connected to current customers and clients. Newsletters are great for sending out company updates on products, services and company changes; thank you, happy birthday, and sale notices; and coupons, discounts, and free items. When sending out newsletters, be mindful to not bombard your customers’ inbox with too many emails. Our recommended amount is 1-2 a week.
Did your company or an employee receive an award? Did you exceed annual goals? Is the company or an employee doing something great in the community? If so, then let people know! Sending out press releases for success is a great way to let the news, the community, and your customers or clients know what’s going on with the business. Earned media attention is also a great way to reach potential clients. The great thing about a press release is that it only takes a few minutes to draft and is free to send out. So why not take advantage of the opportunity to have free advertising and publicity?

Jim and Sara Hardcastle will soon be expanding from their successful food truck operation to a 1950’s style diner on Route 66. They currently have the Meltdown Gourmet Grilled Cheese Food truck and have been in service for about four years.
It is one of the most popular food trucks in Tulsa. They also cater weddings, church activities, festivals, community block parties, Food Truck Wednesdays at Guthrie Green as well as other regularly scheduled lunches with different businesses in and around Tulsa.
Sara says, “What has worked for us over the course of our four-year adventure is the fact that we can be flexible to serve the needs of our customers. We serve everything from our Classic Grilled Cheese sandwich to a Monte Cristo. Our prices are affordable so you can bring the entire family down to eat on a budget.”
The couple has always kept their eyes open for a permanent building location because people were always asking them where they were located. Sara and Jim came across a building for sale on the corner of 33rd West Avenue and Southwest Boulevard — known to many as the Route 66 Auto Orphanage (right next to Four Star Tires). “We knew that it was the future home of the Meltdown Diner on Route 66,” says Sara. “Jim is a 1971 graduate of Webster High School and with the revitalization of Route 66, it just feels that this is where we belong.”
The Meltdown Gourmet Grilled Cheese will soon be called the Meltdown Diner on Route 66. It will be a 50’s style diner featuring the food truck’s regular menu and a few new surprises. The atmosphere is expected to be family friendly, small and cozy. During the renovation phase, the food truck will be on location serving lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday and special occasions as requested. It will also be available for offsite catering for private parties, festivals, and special events.
Plans are to open by mid-summer — or perhaps sooner if remodeling goes smoothly. The Gateway will have more info as the grand opening gets closer and the restaurant gets further into the renovation process.

Open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. for lunch and if the community supports it, early dinner. Follow Jim, Sara, and the Meltdown Diner on their Facebook page @ Meltdown Gourmet Grilled Cheese Food Truck. They will be posting updates and announcements on the page as they become available.
The couple is also planning to produce and sell t-shirts and other memoriabilia with the slogan: “I had a Meltdown on Route 66.” Those items will also be available this spring or summer.
